First Class for Adults:

Interested in trying Tang Soo Do? Whether you are a beginner or have some experience in the martial arts you are welcome to attend class, at any time. Beginners are welcome to start immediately, while those who have had some formal training are welcome to talk to the class instructors about training. Two classes are offered with no fees, contracts or obligations, to see who we are and if you would like to train with us.

New students learn basic techniques

When you come to class, wear loose fitting clothing and introduce yourself to a member of the club. They will introduce you to other students, the class instructor, and show you where to line up when class begins. Class begins with warm-ups, then new students are taken aside and taught basic techniques.

Beginners will learn four defensive blocks; low, high, inside/outside and outside/inside block and a special way of walking. Later, at the end of class, students will learn two offensive moves, center punch and front kick. Defensive techniques are always learned first because we are a defensive art and try to settle any situation without resorting to violence. Also, integrated into the first lesson, are seven guidelines which are needed to advance to black belt, : Integrity, Concentration, Perseverance, Respect and Obedience, Self Control, Humility and Indomitable Spirit. During the first few classes, beginners will review and practice techniques already learned so they are able to complete the first form, before joining the rest of the class. If a student continues to train hard while focusing on the above guidelines, then he/she will progress far in the art.
